Car Seat Safety Information

New York Child Safety Seat and Seat Belt Laws
New York state law requires children the age of 6 years and under ride in a federally approved car seat or booster seat appropriate for the child's height and weight. New York state recommends but does not require children remain in a booster seat until they can safely use a lap/shoulder belt with their back against the seat and knees bent  Further, the lap belt should sit low across the hips and the shoulder belt should not touch the child's neck or face. Children under the age of 16 must always wear a seat belt.
