New Jersey Child Safety Seat and Seat Belt Laws
New Jersey's car seat law requires children up to the age of 8 or 80 pounds ride in an appropriate car seat or child safety booster seat. Children under the age of 8 must ride in the rear seat of the vehicle, unless the vehicle has no rear seat. New Jersey requires children ages 8 - 18 to wear a seat belt, regardless of weight.
