Indiana Child and Infant

Car Seat Safety Information

Indiana Child Safety Seat and Seat Belt Laws
Indiana state law requires children under 8 years of age to ride in a federally approved car seat or booster seat that is appropriate for the child's height and weight. Indiana law also requires that car seats or booster seats be installed and used according to the manufacturer's instructions. Children ages 8 - 16 must use a seat belt. While not required by law, Indiana strongly encourages parents to always place children in the back seat whenever possible.
