Safety Tips when Traveling – Hotel Accommodations:

  • As soon as you get into your room – baby proof as much as possible.
    • Bring extra plug covers
    • Bring extra locks for the cabinets
    • Bring extra corner covers
    • Move coffee maker and glasses out of reach
    • Remove plastic garbage bags from cans
    • Put hairdryer and any other electronics out of reach
  • Always use the deadbolt – kids can open doors!
    • Make sure the balcony door is locked with a deadbolt – most hotels should have a lock that is high on the door to prevent children from reaching the lock
  • Bring a nightlight and favorite blanket or stuffed animal – this will help them sleep and feel more at home
  • Located the nearest exit to your room and the set up an evacuation plan with your family
  • Call ahead!
    • Most hotels will offer cribs
    • Ask if they have child proofing kits
