Alabama Child Safety Seat and Seat Belt Laws
Alabama state law requires children to ride in a rear-facing car seat until at least the age of 1 and at least 20 pounds. Forward-facing car seats must be used until the child is at least 5 years old or weighs 40 pounds. Further, Alabama law requires children ride in a booster seat until at least age 6 and that they use a seatbelt until at least the age of 15.
