Hello Friends!
Friday nights are "Movie Night" at my house, and every Friday afternoon after school my mom, me and my baby sister go to the market to get yummy snacks for the whole family to enjoy during the movie.
Well, last week's visit to the local market was actually more exciting and scary than the PG action thriller we watched that night!
When we arrived at the market I helped my mom find a shopping cart, and held it still while my mom placed my baby sister into the little part of the cart. As we started into the store to visit my favorite aisle, the snack aisle, my mom mentioned she also had to pick up some diapers for my baby sister. Unfortunately, I did not realize that she meant we were going to that aisle first.
Now, I never stray from my mother's side when we are out because I would never want to get lost, or stolen by a stranger, but today, my excitement got the best of me, and I continued on to the snacks aisle not realizing that my mom had turned down another aisle to get diapers for my baby sister.
When I arrived at the snack aisle my eyes became very large with excitement. I did not know what to pick first for our movie night, so I started grabbing everything I could hold in my little hands off the shelves. As my cookies started to fall out of my arms, I realized that nobody was telling me to slow down, or put things back which was typical when I took too much junk food off the shelves. When I turned around to find out why my mom was not telling me that I had too much junk food, I realized it was because she was not with me.
I started to call for my mom frantically, but she did not respond. Then I remembered she said she was going to buy diapers, so I ran as fast as I could to the baby aisle, but she was not there either.
"OH NO! I'M LOST", I cried out.
I continued to wander through the store calling for my mom wondering if I would ever see her again. Why didn't I stay closer to her I thought. As more time passed, I started to feel very scared and sad, and almost started to cry. Suddenly a stranger approached. The stranger asked me if I was ok, but I was hesitant to talk to her because my mom and dad always tell me never to talk to strangers. The stranger told me that she worked at the store and that she could help me find my mom. Unsure about whether I should talk to her or not, I told her that my mom went to buy diapers and I lost her.
The stranger took a walkie talkie out of her pocket, and I heard her say, "Sam, I have a lost little boy in aisle 10, could you please make an announcement"?
All of a sudden I heard my mom calling out for me, and my baby sister crying. As she turned the corner she came running down the aisle with her wagon calling out to me and asking me if I was ok. I told her that I did not realize she went to get the diapers first and that I got lost in the snack aisle. I was very scared I was lost.
So take my advice friends;
The next time your mommy or daddy take you anywhere, make sure you ALWAYS stay close and don't wander off, even hold their hands if you can, because your mom or dad may make an unexpected turn or you may not hear them tell you where to go and all of a sudden you may find yourself lost and scared. And make sure you tell your mommy and daddy that every time they take you ANYWHERE, they should always point out a safe place for you to go to meet them in case you do get separated, so that you do not have to rely on a stranger for help....okay?
Oh, and by the way, movie night rocked! I got extra treats to help cheer me up, AND I got to stay up 30 minutes later than usual because of a wicked Friday Night sugar rush.
