Cruiser’s Safety Tales: The Weekly Family Adventure...Adventure
March 13th, 2008 at 7:57 pm

Hello Friends!

Every weekend my family and I set out on an awesome weekly adventure.  I never know where they are going to take me and my baby sister; I only know that every week they are going to take us somewhere new and exciting…and boy oh boy did last week’s adventure start out exciting!

It was early Saturday morning, and my mom and I had just buckled my baby sister into her car seat when my dad appeared on the front porch asking my mom where his wallet and keys were.  We all had a good chuckle when my mom asked him if he checked his pockets and it turned out, his wallet was right there in his pants pocket. Ha – Ha!

But…his keys were missing, and without them we could not start the car which meant we couldn’t go on our weekly family adventure!

As time passed, I started to become worried that we were going to miss this week’s adventure.  As my baby sister lay next to me sleeping in her car seat, I watched my parents from the back seat for almost 10 minutes as they frantically searched for their car keys; running in and out of the house as if we had a revolving front door.

Well…finally I decided that this was a job for Cruiser, so I unbuckled my seat belt, and jumped out of the car, to join in the frantic search for the missing car keys.

As I started for the house a powerful gust of wind came along and it slammed my door shut. I quickly started back for the car realizing that I left my baby sister all alone when suddenly I heard her start to cry.  My baby sister was not hurt, but started crying because she was scared by the loud noise of the car door slamming shut.  Now if it was me, I definitely would not have cried like my baby sister, but I have to admit, I would have been scared too if I was left all alone in a car.

My parents heard the ruckus and ran to my side to see what was up. We were all very worried when we realized that the car doors were locked with my baby sister crying all alone inside the car.  Then suddenly, my dad said, “OH NO, THE KEYS ARE INSIDE THE CAR!” as he pointed through the window.

After all that searching the keys were on the dashboard of the car so my dad would not forget them!

Well to make a very long and crazy story short, we called 911 and the police had to come and unlock my parent’s car door so that we could rescue my baby sister, AND go on our weekly adventure.

So take my advice friends;

The next time your mommy and daddy have to leave the car to find their missing keys, grab a coffee, hit the money machine, or lord knows what else, just remember to remind them that they should ALWAYS take you and your baby brother or sister out of the car with them.  Leaving us kids alone in a car for even 1 minute is 1 minute too long...okay?

Oh, and by the way, we had an AWSOME weekly family adventure.  We went to the local ice rink and I melted the ice with my fiery speed on my hockey blades of fury!
